MSEL Dynamically Flow Tested Fuel Injectors
DRAFT
Something to consider with both your existing injectors and also when purchasing a new set of injectors is the fuel flow rate across the set. Don't assume that because you're buying a new set that the flow rate will match perfectly across the set. Every injector that MSEL sell has first been dynamically flow tested by us. We then batch them so that they match within 1% flow rate across the entire set. If we didn't? They could range from 1% to a 15% difference in flow rate over a set of injectors. And what does that mean?
Well, if there is a 10% difference in flow rate between fuel injectors in a set, it can negatively impact the performance and efficiency of the engine. Some possible issues that may arise include:
- Poor engine performance: If one or more injectors are flowing fuel at a rate that is significantly different from the others, it can lead to an uneven fuel/air mixture in the engine, which can cause poor performance.
- Decreased fuel efficiency: If the fuel injectors are not flowing fuel at the correct rate, it can lead to wasted fuel and decreased fuel efficiency.
- Increased emissions: An uneven fuel/air mixture can also lead to increased emissions from the engine.
- Damage to the engine: If the fuel/air mixture is not correct, it can lead to pre-ignition or detonation, which can cause damage to the engine.
It is important to ensure that all fuel injectors in a set are flowing fuel at the correct rate in order to maintain the performance and efficiency of the engine. If you notice that there is a difference in flow rate between fuel injectors in a set, it is important to address the issue as soon as possible. For older injectors, this may involve cleaning or repairing the injectors, or replacing them if necessary. For new injectors....there is nothing you can do.
But hey, wouldn't it just make sense to buy once, buy right and get the fully matched set to start with?
