Global Wire Shortages
There is currently a global wire shortage affecting many industries. This shortage is caused by a variety of factors, including increased demand for consumer electronics, disruptions in supply chain due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and production delays due to manufacturing and logistics issues. As a result, prices for wire and cable have risen and lead times for orders have lengthened. This has created challenges for businesses that rely on wire and cable products, and may lead to delays in production and delivery of goods. Companies are encouraged to plan ahead and secure their wire and cable needs in advance.
MSEL is now forecasting two years ahead in an effort to keep M22759/32 wire on the shelf. Where we have shortfalls we are trying to offer Spec 55 wire as an alternative. Spec 55 is very similar to M22759/32 except it has a higher operating temperature of 200ÂșC but is not certified to M22759/32 standards. Note that it does meet SAE AS22759/32 standards.
Should the situation continue to worsen, we will add more Spec 55 wire to our lineup.
Where a specific M22759/32 option is not available (colour or size), we will work with you to try and find a viable alternative.
